Leo J. Bauer

Leo J. Bauer, age 87 of Hastings died September 5, 2012 at Regina Nursing Home. Leo was born August 28, 1925 in Marshan Township to Ferdinand and Anna (Meier) Bauer. He married Rosalie Landsberger on November 15, 1950 in New Trier and served in the Army during the Korean War. Hefarmed his entire life in Marshan Township. Leo was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #5199 in Vermillion. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant twin sons; granddaughter Marissa; sisters Rose Becker and Margaret Bauer; brothers Tony, Mike, Nick, and Math. Leo is survived by his wife Rosalie; eleven children Glenn (Nancy), Peggy (Mike) Knoll, and Leo Jr. (Joannie), all of Hastings, Ernie (Dorothy) of Sauk Centre, MN, Charlie (Bev) of Hastings, Kenny (Mary) of Plum City, WI, Leroy (Sharon) of Welch, Francis (Sharon) of Portland, ME, Dave (Corina) and Kevin (Sue) of Hastings, Mary Bauer (Pat Tripp) of Dundas, MN; also 27 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; brother Andy (Pat) of Hager City, WI; sisters Louise Kimmes of Hastings, Helen (John) Peine of Cannon Falls; Emma Doyle, Susie DuShane, and Tillie (Jerry) Johnson, all of Hastings. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM Sunday, September 9, 2012 at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church Mother Seton Hall, 2035 W. Fifteenth St., Hastings and 1 hour prior to the 10:30 AM Monday, September 10, Funeral Mass, officiated by Father Cole Kracke at the church. Interment, with Military Honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post #1210will follow in the parish cemetery. Grandson casket bearers are Randy Bauer, Ryan Bauer, Joe Bauer, Nick Bauer, Fred Bauer, and Kevin Bauer. The remainder of Leo's grandchildren are serving as honorary pallbearers.
