Laurie M. Smead

Laurie M. Smead, age 47, of Hastings died on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at the United Hospital in St. Paul.Laurie was born August 13, 1960 in Red Wing, MN to Harold J. and Alyce (Gergen) Kieffer. She was a graduate ofHastings High School - class of 1978 and had attended 2years of college in the floral design field.Laurie married Keith Smead on June 14, 1986 in Miesville. She had worked as a day care provider and enjoyed both gardening and scrapbooking.Laurie was preceded in death by her father Harold J. Kieffer. She is survived by her husband Keith; sons Mitchell and James; mother Alyce Kieffer of Hastings; siblings Allan (Anne) Kieffer of Hastings, Ann (David) Wengeler of Hampton, Kerri (Robert) Pollard of Hastings, and John (Stacey) Kieffer of Hastings; also 11 nieces and nephews.The visitation for Laurie Smead will be held attheSt. Joseph's Catholic Church in Miesville on Wednesday, August 13th from 4-8 P.M. and also 1 hour prior to the funeral mass held on Thursday, August 14th at 10:30 A.M. and officiated by Fr. Leonard Siebenaler.The interment will follow in the parish cemetery.The pallbearers will be Allan Kieffer, John Kieffer, Daniel Wengeler, Michael Kieffer, Tim Groth, and Bob Hicks; the honorary pallbearers are Bradley Wengeler and Cole Kieffer.
