Lauren K. Cran

Lauren K. Cran, age 81, passed away on Friday morning, November 9, 2018, following an extended illness. Lauren Kenneth, the son of Rolland and Verna (Pasch) Cran, was born on June 17, 1937 in Hastings, MN. Lauren was a lifelong resident of Denmark Township, growing up on the family farm on Quadrant Avenue and graduating from Hastings High School in 1955. While still in high school he joined the Air National Guard, where he served for 8 years. After a brief stint living in St. Paul, he and his family moved back to Denmark Township in 1968. A lifelong member of St. Marys Basswood Grove, Lauren was a very active volunteer in Washington County, including prior service as President of the Denmark Historical Society, President of the Lions Club in Stillwater, and 2011 Washington County Outstanding Senior Volunteer. He retired from 3M after 41 years, where he was named on 6 design and process patents. He married the love of his life, Darlene, in 1962, and was happily married until his death 54 years later. Throughout his life, Lauren enjoyed playing and managing softball, bowling, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by, parents; and brother, Gary Cran. Lauren is survived by, wife, Darlene; sons, Dean and Brian (Susan Onstad) Cran; grandson, Tyler Onstad-Cran; brother, Jim Cran; sister-in-law, Jeannette Cran; niece, Sara Liebl; nephew, Donald Cran; and many cousins and other relatives. Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2018 at St. Mary Basswood Grove, 8435 St. Croix Trail South, Hastings, with Father Scott Monson officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will take place one and half hours prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Marys Basswood Grove Church. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia, Smidt Starkson Funeral Home Crematory of Hastings.
