Laurel J. Schaetzel

Laurel J. Schaetzel, age 90 of Red Wing, formerly of Hastings died Sunday, August 2, 2015.Laurel was born February 8, 1925 in St. Paul, MN to Paul and Martha (Bartusch) Schaetzel. She worked as a civil servant for the United States Government throughout her career. Laurel was an avid reader and member of Friends of Pleasant Hill Library in Hastings.She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Elvera Albrecht, Alice Wellemeyer, Richard Schaetzel and Warren Schaetzel.Laurel is survived by her brother Phillip R. Schaetzel of Frederic, WI; nephews and nieces Robert (Arlene) Wellemeyer of Hastings, Cory Jacobson of Seattle, Diane Sutherland of Seattle, Christine Malecha of Prior Lake, James Schaetzel of White Bear and Kimberly Wallisch of Woodbury; also other family and friends.A Memorial Service will be held at the United Methodist Church of Lewis, WI at a later date. Inurnment will be held at Elmhurst Cemetery in St. Paul.
