Kerry Flom

Kerry J. Flom, age 72 of Hastings, died peacefully on Friday afternoon, October 8, 2021, at United Hospital in St. Paul. Kerry Jane, the daughter of Frank and Ivedell (Wittua) O'Brien, was born on March 14, 1949, in Red Wing. She attended Hastings school district and graduated with the class of 1967. Kerry then briefly continued her education at UW ~ River Falls prior to graduating from Minnesota School of Business. As a young lady, she began working as a buyer for Daytons, which was a very accomplished responsibility back in the day. She later became a longtime daycare provider in Hastings where she truly enjoyed having the opportunity to be part of so many families lives over the years. In 1969, she was united in marriage to Eugene "Gene" Reinardy and they were blessed with a son, David and many memories prior to his passing. She recently married Loren Flom, a classmate from third grade through high school, in 2019. She and Loren enjoyed traveling, walking on the beach, and simply spending time together. Kerry loved crafts, most recently making homemade cards, sewing, knitting, and pretty much knew everything there is to know about plant and flower gardens. She never missed the chance to go to Gerten's or Hobby Lobby because she could always find something that she needed! Most of all, Kerry cherished spending time with her family and friends. Throughout her life, Kerry's faith was very important to her and was always a guiding force. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenneth O'Brien and Kevin O'Brien; first husband, Gene; and by her son, David. Kerry is survived by her husband, Loren; children, Elaine Flom, Michael Flom, Emily (Chris) Salenro, Gary (Suzy) Flom, Amanda Flom, Alice (Kory) Gaude, and Stephen Flom; grandchildren, Laura, Jacob, and Heather Reinardy, Nathan, Dylan, Aiden, Noah, and Boe; great grandchildren, Kaylee and Leon; siblings, Kathleen (Gary) Fox and Michael (Lynn) Plaster; godson, Daniel (Sarai) Maher; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, with Gordon Gathright officiating. Interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
