Kent G. Johnson

Kent Johnson Age 87 of Hastings, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 13, 2019. Kent was born in Heron Lake, Minnesota on November 17, 1931, the son of Ruby E. (Kent) and Goodwin N. Johnson. He met the love of his life, Jean Elizabeth Espensen and they were married on November 5, 1954. After taking a supervisor job at 3M Chemolite, they moved the family to Hastings. Kent retired from 3M Chemolite in 1990. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, duck hunting, remodeling projects, and restoring his 1942 Buick. His kindness and generosity will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Preceded in death by parents, Goodwin and Ruby Johnson. He is survived by his wife of over 64 years, Jean E. Johnson, who he was deeply devoted to; his 3 children, Michael Johnson, Diane (Fred) Berry, Lynn (Jim) Raway; his 6 grandchildren, Jonna Berry, Christa Berry, Heather (Mike) Darst, Cindy (Steve) Kieffer, Jason Raway, and Brad (Anna) Raway; his 8 great-grandchildren, Kara, Matthew, Adalyn, Delainey, Jaxton, Kenny, Kylie, and Michael. Also survived by his siblings, Lorys Penrod, Keith Johnson, and Karen McRunnel; and other family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Resurrection United Methodist Church, 615 15thStreet W., Hastings, with a visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment immediately after the service at Lakeside Cemetery with a reception to follow at the church. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
