Kathryn A. "Kathy" Biegel

Kathryn A. "Kog" Biegel, age 80 of Hastings, died peacefully surrounded by her three boys at Regina Medical Center in Hastings on Wednesday afternoon, January 5, 2022. Kathryn Ann, the daughter of James and Grace (Brochtrup) Heerey, was born on July 6, 1941, in Stanley, Wisconsin. Following her graduation from McDonell Catholic High School in Chippewa Falls, Kathy briefly lived in Eau Claire, Wisconsin prior to moving to Hastings in 1971. She began working at Hudson Mfg. and in 1983, at Amesbury Inc. in Cannon Falls until her retirement in 2007. Kathy was very generous in many ways, especially with her dedication to volunteering at both Regina Auxiliary and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards with friends at the Hastings Senior Center, and knitting gloves and hats for family, friends, and donations. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her twin sister, Juliana Ferguson. Kathy is survived by her sons, Steven Biegel (Patti Hulse), Michael Biegel (Mela Krick), and James Biegel; granddaughter, McKenna; grandsons, Adam, Finn, Lucas, Ashe, Kade, and Matthew; great granddaughter, McKenna Hulse; siblings, Mary Jo Krahenbuhl, Patricia Bilse, and James Heerey; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 14, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., and to a reception immediately following Mass, all at church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, Kathy's family requests memorials be given to Regina Auxiliary or Hastings Senior Center in her memory. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
