Kathleen H. Leifeld

Kathleen Helen Leifeld, age 91, of Vermillion, MN, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Regina Assisted Living in Hastings. She was born January 31, 1929, the daughter of Edward and Dorothy (Peine) Gerster. She married the love of her life George Leifeld on May 24, 1949 at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton. She is survived by her sisters, Alvera Niebur and Dorothy Werner; sister-in-law, Bonnie Gerster; along with her nine children, Helen (Gary) Wood, Nancy (Richard) Traen, Monica Scully, Rose (Paul) Brennan, Lisa (Terry) Youngren, John (Patty) Leifeld, Jim (Sandy) Leifeld, Jeff (Aimee) Leifeld and Julie (Grant) Olson; 25 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; and her many special nieces and nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; brother, Al Gerster; and sisters, Olivia Lorentz, Bernice Molitor and Lorraine Rother; and granddaughter, Emma Olson. Kathleen loved spending time with her children and their babies, playing cards with her sisters and friends, endless hours of crocheting and embroidering while she watched figure skating and Hallmark movies. She had a wonderful outlook on life, a strong faith and was loved by many. Due to COVID-19, a private family Mass of Christian Burial and interment will take place at St. John the Baptist Church, Vermillion, MN. The Mass will be live streamed on the Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel Facebook page on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Father Mike Tix is officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
