Jon "Jay" Heesch, age 58 of Hastings, died peacefully on Thursday evening, April 8, 2021, at United Hospital in St. Paul following an extended illness. Jon Jay, the son of John and Judith (Majeski) Heesch, was born on January 17, 1963, in Hastings. Following his education at Hastings High School, Jay enlisted in the United States Army and was later granted an Honorable Discharge. Jay was a longtime painter in the Hastings area. He loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, John; sister, Jackie Heesch Wilkens; and by his grandparents. Jay is survived by his mother, Judy; siblings, Jeff Heesch and Jennifer Heesch; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Memorial services will be held 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, with Father Matt Shireman officiating. Interment with Military Honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post 1210 will follow at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish Cemetery in Hastings. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
