Jon D. Beisang

Jon D. Beisang, age 78 of Hastings, died peacefully following a recent illness on Tuesday evening, May 21, 2019, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Jon Donald, the youngest child of Arthur and Catherine (Geiger) Beisang, was born on November 20, 1940, in St. Paul. Following his graduation from Harding High School with the class of 1958, Jon continued his education at the University of Minnesota. On September 22, 1962, he was united in marriage to Karen Carlson at Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul. Jon then began his lifelong career with the City of St. Paul where he worked in the schools for nearly thirty-five years as a Chief Engineer Operator and had a Boiler Operator License. Jon loved hunting, especially for pheasants and grouse, as well as fishing for whatever his boys wanted to. He never missed the opportunity to attend his children's sporting events, and even helped haul half the team around in the old International. Family vacations where very important to Jon and Karen, often times visiting a Kabetogama Lake every summer. Jon loved the Holidays and the time spent with family and friends. Most importantly, Jon cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was joined in heaven by his parents; siblings, Beth, Beverly (Paul) and Art (Shirley); son, Scott Anthony Beisang; niece, Deborah Schuna; and by his mother and father-in-law. Jon is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Karen; children, Jon A. (Kim) Beisang, Todd (Monica) Beisang, Lisa Prawdiuk (Steve), and Jennifer (Rob) Wettig; grandchildren, Andrea Beisang, Alison Wettig, Sasha Prawdiuk, Anthony (Shawna) Beisang, Joshua Beisang, Katherine Prawdiuk, Nicholas Beisang, Karen Beisang, Dmitri Prawdiuk, and Easton Wettig; great grandchildren, Chase, Kasey, and Valerie Beisang, Gerald Flemming, Tessa Beisang, and two more expected soon; sister, Kathleen (Carl) Bryngelson; brother-in-law, Chuck "Dick" (Mel) Carlson; dear friends, Dwayne (Judy) Kelley; and by many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Memorial services will be held 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel in Hastings, with Gordon Gathright officiating. Immediately following the service, a reception will also be held. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor's choice in memory of Jon.
