John T. Stoudt

John Stoudt, age 89 of Hastings, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury. John Thomas, the son of George and Esther (Wilhelm), was born on December 14, 1927, in Hastings. Following his education, John was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War and later received an honorable discharge. In 1952, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Collinge in Minneapolis, and they were blessed with three children. John was a true farmer at heart and enjoyed working on his hobby farm west of town. He was also a longtime employee at Armour Co. for many years. John loved gardening, spending time with family, and his John Deere "toys". He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Ruth Chamberlain, Elsie Powers, Edith Chamberlain, Paul Stoudt, and Helen Komorouski. John is survived by his wife, Charlotte of Hastings; his children, Tom (Elaine) Stoudt of Plum City, Kurt Stoudt of Hastings, and Ron (Carol) Stoudt of Hastings; his grandchildren, Sean (Katie) Stoudt, Nicole Stoudt (friend, Nate), Paul Feyereisen, Gary Stoudt, and Cheyanne Stoudt; his only great-granddaughter, Grace; his siblings, Anna Hughes, Marion Finnegan, and George Stoudt; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Our Saviours Ev. Lutheran Church in Hastings, with Reverend Doug Duin officiating. Visitation will be held at church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment at Lakeside Cemetery will follow a luncheon at church. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings.
