John R. Kusske

John R. Kusske, age 88 of Hastings, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday morning, November 10, 2018, at Park Ridge Assisted Living in Hastings. John Robert, the son of Fredrick and Catherine (Johns) Kusske, was born on December 5, 1929 in Gaylord, MN. John met the love of his life, Dorothy, while roller-skating at the Fish Lake Pavilion. They were united in marriage on July 23, 1946 and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2016. They moved to Hastings, where they lived for 25 years. While in Hastings, he founded Kusske Mechanical. John was also very involved in the Knights of Columbus and was a former Grand Knight. Following retirement, he and Dorothy spent their winters in Texas and their summers at their summer home in Cumberland, WI. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by, parents; and daughter, Mary Fox. John is survived by, wife of 72 years, Dorothy; children, John F. Kusske, Ken (Teresa) Kusske, Donna (Roger) Kusske-Thorkelson, and Theresa (Harvey) Saros; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, in Hastings, with Father Michael Barsness officiating. Interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, in Hastings. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia, Smidt Starkson Funeral Home Crematory of Hastings.
