John Paul Hiniker, 80, of Prescott, Wisconsin entered eternal rest Thursday, October 5, 2017 with his family at his side. John was born August 6, 1937 to Judge Edward J. and Esther Sullivan Hiniker in St. Paul, Minnesota. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1955 and earned his Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis in 1959. He started working with the Bureau of the Census in 1959 and earned a Masters in Statistics from George Washington University in 1964. Also in 1964 he married the love of his life, Allene Bettis. Together they raised a family in Northern Virginia. In 1992 John retired after working 29 years for the Internal Revenue Service. He quickly relocated from Manassas, Virginia back to near his childhood home of Hastings. He enjoyed golfing, the outdoors, and was a card shark who loved playing cards and cribbage with his brothers. John was also known to save sandwiches in his pocket and was a popcorn connoisseur. John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Allene. He is loved and will be deeply missed by his family; son, Guy (Kim) Hiniker, grandson Chad; daughter, Kathallene (Dave) Holtzman, grandsons Alex and Justin; daughter, Kirstie (Sonny) Cohen, grandsons Taylor and Michael; siblings, Edward (Joan-deceased) and Peter (Sue) Hiniker; also many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. A Memorial to honor the Life of John Paul Hiniker will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings, MN. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings.
