John "Jack" Zeverino, age 71 of Hastings and formerly of Prescott, died peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis following an extended illness. John Joseph, the son of Roy and Elizabeth (Barrett) Zeverino, was born on June 14, 1945, in St. Paul. Following his education, Jack enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany prior to being honorably discharged. Jack was a longtime over-the-road trucker and enjoyed every minute of it. He also owned and operated Jacks Garage Doors for many years as well. On July 13, 2002, he was united in marriage to Sheryl (Braun) McCoy at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prescott. Jack was a dedicated member of the Shriners and enjoyed being actively involved in the Cycle group. He also loved fishing and taking motorcycle trips to Sturgis and many National Parks. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his siblings, Rodney and Tony. Jack is survived by his wife, Sheryl; his children, Chad (Patti Murray) McCoy, Shaun McCoy, Tim McCoy, Lisa (Cory) Ferdig, and Ryan McCoy; his grandchildren, Tressa McCoy, Gabe Ferdig, Bella Ferdig and Alysia Wilson; and by other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Our Saviours Ev. Lutheran Church in Hastings, followed by Military Honors provided by the VFW Lyle Russell Post 1210. Visitation will be held at church one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. A reception to celebrate Jack's life will be held at church following the service. In lieu of flowers, Jacks family requests memorials be made to the Shriner Childrens Hospital in his memory. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings.
