John Francis Beissel, age 84 of New Trier, died at Augustana Care Center on Thanksgiving morning, November 28, 2019 with his family by his side. John was born on the farm in New Trier on July 19, 1935 to Nick and Anna (Siebenaler) Beissel. He attended St. Mary's School in New Trier. While at a dance, he met the love of his life, Mary Margaret Taube. They were married on May 25, 1957 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Trier. He was a loving husband to Mary and a wonderful father to his five children. John loved farming, which he did for most of his life. He also worked as a supervisor at Hudson Manufacturing for over forty years. His quiet and calm demeanor will be remembered by all. He had a very big heart and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his five children, Wayne (Patti) Beissel of Hastings, Bev (Joe) Moes of Hastings, Dennis (Sue) Beissel of Hampton, Brenda (John) McMahan of Little Falls, and Gary (Donna) Beissel of Hampton; his 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren with 1 more on the way in March; his brother, Bob (Marion) Beissel; his sister, Mary Ann Beyer; his sisters-in-law, Margie Beissel, Eileen Beissel, Sr. Bernelle Taube, SSND, and Agnes Knipe; his brother-in-law, Brother Bernie Taube; and also by numerous relatives and friends. John is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Margaret Beissel; his parents, Nick and Anna Beissel; his siblings, Godfrey "Fritz" Beissel, Delphina "Sis" Schiller, and Art Beissel; and his brothers-in-law, Dwain "Buddy" Beyer, Joe Schiller, and Tom Knipe. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Michael Tix, will be held on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Trier, MN. The visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Interment will follow the Mass in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
