John F. Golz, age 67 of Inver Grove Heights, died peacefully at Our Lady of Peace Hospice Home on Tuesday evening, January 11, 2022 after a courageous 8-month battle with small cell neuroendocrine prostate cancer (NEPC). John Francis, the son of Hans and Jean (Schoner) Golz, was born on February 21, 1954, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Following his graduation from White Bear Lake Area High School, John continued his education at Lakewood Community College and then St. Paul TVI to become a St. Paul Local Union 110 electrician. On May 12, 1979, he was united in marriage to Maurita Feidt at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Hastings. Outside of working, John enjoyed gardening and listening to music. John was a talented musician and played the Dobro and pedal steel guitar in several bands, but primarily the Country Creek Band. He was an avid fisherman and cherished the time spent at the family cabin on Birch Lake in Hackensack, where he'd skillfully drive the boat for the family as they water-skied. Most especially, John cherished spending time with his wife and two sons. He was a wonderful teacher, and always led by example. John loved attending his boys' sporting events and never missed a swim meet (except for the one in Australia)! John was always busy with projects but enjoyed time with family and friends and will be truly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Rosemary Palmer and Stephen Golz; brother-in-law, Jim Heimann; and by his nephew, Alex Golz. John is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Maurita; sons, Matthew(Judy) Golz and Ryan Golz; grandchildren, Isaac, Evelyn, and Owen; siblings, Priscilla Heimann and Pete Golz; brother-in-law Rick Kalm, sister-in-law Kelly Golz, many extended family members in the Feidt family; and by many other relatives and friends. A Celebration of John's Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 5th, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. A reception will follow the service. A livestream of the service will be provided on Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel's Facebook page, for those who are unable to attend the service.
