In his final days, John was surrounded by his loving family, and died in the special care and loving arms of his daughter Liz to be with the Lord on February 3, 2020. John is survived by his angel and loving wife of 61 years, Marlys; by his children, Bill (B.J.), Jim (Karen), Scott (Ann), and Liz (Tom); his grandchildren, Michele (Josh), Ruthie (Tyler), Courtney (Andy), Claire, and Robb; and by his sister, Margie Kane; and sister-in-law, Rose Kranz. He was the youngest and the last surviving of the eight Hastings Kranz Boys having been preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Art, Chuck, Fr. Stephen, Jerry, Ray, and James; and by his sister, Delores; and great-grandson, Ari William Steitz. John was a lifelong resident of Hastings and member of the Saint Boniface and Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. He served our country as a member of the United States Army. For many years, John co-owned and operated Hastings Sanitary Disposal, Inc. His priorities were his abiding faith and his beloved family. Throughout his life, he was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to many. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for John on Friday, February 7, 2020 beginning at 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 2035 15th Street West, Hastings, MN 55033 with a visitation 2 hours prior to the Mass beginning at Church. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers to Assumption Abbey in Richardton, ND.
