Joan M. Shuneson

Joan M. Shuneson, age 76 of Hastings died October 29, 2013 at her home. She was born June 6, 1937 in Cedar Falls, IA to Delmer and Kathrine (Olsen) Peterson. Joan was a 1955 graduate of Cokato High School and also a graduate of the nursing school at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Joan married Roger Shuneson on April 18, 1958 in Cokato, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents Delmer and Katherine Peterson. Joan is survived by her loving husband Roger; four children Craig (Lisa) of Columbus, OH, Kevin (Julie) of Grand Rapids MI, Michael (April) of Ellsworth, WI, and Kari (Paul) Curtis of Hastings, MN; twelve grandchildren Laura (Doug), Andrew, Kelvin, Kylie, Jalyn, Aaron (Marina), Logan, Joel (Melissa), Johanna, Kathrine, Peter, Patrick; five siblings Donna (Al) Luther of Santa Maria, CA, Duane (Carol) Peterson of Mountain City, TN, William (Carole) Peterson of Hastings, MN, Larry (Kitty) Peterson of Fullerton, CA, Gary (Trudi) Peterson of Hurricane, UT; Aunt Myrtle Peterson; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Steve Schoenwald, will be held 10 AM Saturday, November 2, 2013 at River of Life Church 800 Vermillion St., Hastings. Visitation will be held 4-7 pm Friday November 1, 2013 at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home 201 E. SeventhSt. Hastings, and also one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow in the Pleasant View Memorial Gardens, Burnsville. Pallbearers are Andrew Shuneson, Kelvin Shuneson, Aaron Shuneson, Logan Shuneson, Joel Shuneson, Peter Curtis, Patrick Curtis and Doug Feustel.
