Joan M. Moes, age 85 of Hastings, died peacefully Tuesday morning, April 25, 2017, at St. Therese at St. Odilia Palliative Care Community in Shoreview. Joan was born August 16, 1931, in St. Paul to Andrew and Stephania (Sczepanski) Jablonski. She was a graduate of St. Paul Johnson High School in 1949, and married John Peter Moes on October 10, 1953, at the Church of St. Casimir in St. Paul. Joan enjoyed motorcycling with her husband, also walking, was an avid bowler and loved arts and crafts. She was a longtime election judge in our community. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John and brother Frank Jablonski. Joan is survived by her six children, Cindy (John) Little of St. Paul, Steven (Vanessa) Moes of San Antonio, TX, David (Kris) Moes of Chanhassen, Paul (Teresa) Moes of Hastings, John (Tammi) Moes of Manhatten, KS and Michael (Lisa) Moes of Prior Lake; 12 grandchildren, Daisha (Jackson) Hayes, Cara, Marci, Matthew, Justin and Jacob Moes, Katlyn (Newington) Tamaalii, Erin, John, Parker, Ava, and Emily Moes; sister, Anne Pohl; brothers, Chester Jablonski and Leonard (Evelyn) Jablonski. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth Street, Hastings, officiated by Fr. T.J. McKenzie. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 East Seventh Street, Hastings, and will continue one hour prior to Mass at church.
