Janet Sanders was born in Ravenna Township, Dakota County, MN, on March 14, 1938. She was the fourth of ten children, and second daughter, of Henry B. and Eleanor (Foss) Langenfeld. Janet was a graduate of Hastings High School, and married her neighbor- LeRoy C. Sanders in 1959. They honeymooned in Bemidji, MN, and the BWCA, before setting up their first home in Madelia, MN and starting their family. They moved to Hastings, MN as their family continued to grow. The family ended up in Chantilly, VA, in 1967, when LeRoy accepted a position at WRC-TV in Washington, DC. Always up for a cup of coffee and a good conversation, Janet worked in the local school system once all her children were of school age, before beginning her career as an in-home child-care provider. In 2003, Janet returned to her hometown of Hastings, MN. She continued to enjoy a cup of coffee and conversation with her "coffee ladies." In the 1970s, LeRoy decided that Janet needed a hobby, and began her on the quest of collecting depression era glassware. The hobby quickly turned into an obsession as their home filled with the colorful glass. Together, the family started an antique business called J L Glass, which specialized in Depression glass and they traveled the country doing shows; later, they owned and operated antique shops in two locations (Fairfax and Manassas, VA). Janet was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Sanders in1984, a daughter, Paula Robertory of Olathe, KS, in 2012, her parents, two brothers, Loran Langenfeld and Ralph Langenfeld and two sisters, Elvira Woxland and Dorlaine Ott.
