Jean Ellen Janssen

Jean E. Janssen, age 78, of Hastings died Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at United Hospital in St. Paul. Jean was born December 18, 1934 in St. Paul to William and Ellen (McCarthy) Kalal. She married Richard J. Janssen on May 24, 1952 in South St. Paul and they resided in Vermillion, MN for many years. Jean had served as a former volunteer coordinator at Carpenters Nature Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Patty Swanson and brother Jimmy Kalal. Jean is survived by her husband Richard; six children Kathy Janssen of Cannon Falls, Bill Janssen (Wendy) of Maiden Rock, WI, Dick Janssen (Dana) of Westby, WI, Jack Janssen of Hastings, Len Janssen of Red Wing, and Janey Janssen of Adams, ND; also 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; sisters Ellen Osland of Little Canada, MN, Joann Mueller of Baldwin, WI and Eileen Biagini of Dellwood, MN. The Memorial Mass, officiated by Fr. Stan Mader will be held 11 AM Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Vermillion. A memorial gathering will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
