James G. "Chip" Grosenick

James G. "Chip" Grosenick, age 81 of Woodbury formerly of Hastings, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 28, 2018, following complications of Multiple System Atrophy. James Gary was born August 12, 1936, in Graceville, MN to Ferd and Agnes (Johnson) Grosenick. He graduated from the Ortonville High School with the Class of 1954 and was an Eagle Scout. Chip was a 1959 graduate of South Dakota State University College of Pharmacy, was a member of Kappa Psi, and also served his country in the U. S. Army. He married Martha Ostrem on April 27, 1960, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and was employed as a pharmacist with Thrifty Drug in Hastings for many years. James was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Hastings and enjoyed traveling and playing golf. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his sister, Nancy Meek. Chip is survived by his wife, Martha; children, Sara (Doug) Bartholomew of Mahtomedi and John (Paula) Grosenick of Mendota Heights; five grandchildren, Alissa, Emma and Charles Bartholomew, Jack and Elias Grosenick; sister, Janet Gayle Berdan of Cary, NC; and by many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Hastings, with Reverend Doug Duin officiating. Private Family Interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at church, and a reception at Dakota Pines Golf Course will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Hastings Family Service, or to Hennepin County Medical Center Neurology/Neuromuscular Department in memory of James.
