James A. "Jim" Neisen, age 78 of Vermillion, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday evening, January 26, 2020, at Regina Senior Living in Hastings. James Alfred, the son of Peter and Rose (Schiprett) Neisen, was born on August 20, 1941, in Mahnomen, Minnesota. Following his graduation from Mahnomen High School with the class of 1959, Jim continued his education at the University of Minnesota and later graduated from Mankato State University with a degree in Accounting. On May 30, 1966, Jim was united in marriage to Donna Siebenaler at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Trier. Prior to being drafted, Jim enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War prior to being Honorably Discharged. Jim was a longtime co-owner of Rahn, Neisen and Root in Coates, and was still attending tax seminars up until his health began to decline. Jim was very dedicated to his work and made sure everything was done with the clients best interest in mind. Outside of work, Jim loved fishing, mowing many cemeteries, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. Jim always had a sense of humor no matter what the situation. Above all, Jim was a faithful man, devout Catholic, and rarely missed daily Mass. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his siblings, Elroy, Eletta, Edwin, Bernice, Jerome, and Rosemary; and by several nieces and nephews. Jim is survived by his wife, Donna Neisen; children, John Neisen, Richard (Loraine) Neisen, Justin Neisen, and Karla (Brian) Cook; grandchildren, Adam Neisen, Matthew Cook, Jenna Cook, and Callie Cook; the extended Neisen & Siebenaler Families; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and clients. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2020, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Trier, with Father Martin Siebenaler and Father Leonard Siebenaler concelebrating, and with Deacon Joel Neisen assisting. Interment with military honors will follow at the parish cemetery. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, and also at church on Friday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sharing and Caring Hands, or to the donor's choice in memory of Jim.
