Jack G. Arend, age 77 of Hastings passed peacefully Monday, June 30, 2014 with his family at his side. He was born June 28, 1937 in St. Paul to Charles and Estella (Wright) Arend. A graduate of Cretin High School, Jack received electronics and nuclear power training during his submarine service in the United States Navy. He was a Senior Instructor for Computer Control Systems for Rosemount Engineering for many years. Jack married Maureen Casserly at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Hastings on September 17, 1960. His hobbies included fishing, RC Airplanes and helicopters which he loved to share with grandchildren, boating, snowmobiling and wintering in Florida with Maureen. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Charles Arend, Eileen Deschene, Warren Arend, Mary Jane Raasch and James Arend. Jack is survived by his wife Maureen; children Colleen Seeger of Burnsville, Timothy (Lisa Hahn) Arend of St. Louis, Mo and Cathleen (Ken) Hammond of Fort Payne, AL; grandchildren Sean Seeger, Michael (Amber) Seeger, Carynn Arend and Bryce Arend; great grandchildren Landen and Logan Seeger. The funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Cole Kracke will be held 10 AM Monday, July 7 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth St, Hastings. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, with Military Honors provided by the Fort Snelling Memorial Rifle Squad. Memorials may be made to Regina Senior Living or AFTD (Association for Frontotemporal Dementia).
