Herbert M. Peine

Herbert M. Peine, age 87, of Miesville, died on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at United Hospital in St. Paul after a brief illness. Herbert Peine was born December 2, 1928 in Douglas Township to Peter and Anna (Kimmes) Peine. He was a Hastings High School graduate, class of 1946 and served in the United States Army. Herbert married MaryBeth Judge on June 11, 1955 at St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls, MN. He was a life-long farmer who served on the Douglas Town Board, Hastings Creamery Board and was a member of the Dugout Club for the Miesville Mudhens. Herbert also enjoyed woodworking, card playing, fishing and mowing his lawn. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife MaryBeth; brothers Ted, Nick and Ed Peine; sisters Henrietta Niederkorn, Marie Birk, Mathilda "Tillie" Bauer, Delphina Hankes, Lucille Johnson, Monica Peine and infant sister Margaret Peine. Herbert is survived by his seven children, Pamela Peine of Miesville, Patricia Peine of Oakdale, Michael (Lori) Peine of Miesville, Randall (Lisa) Peine of Welch, James (Joan) Peine of Hastings, Susan (Robert) Betcher of Hastings and Lori (Mitchell) Jackson of Welch; also 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Monday, January 25, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Miesville, officiated by Fr. Leonard Siebenaler. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post #1210. Visitation will be held AT THE CHURCH from 3-7 PM Sunday and 1 hour prior to the Monday Service. Pallbearers are Peter Peine, Todd Peine, Charlie Birk, Kevin Bauer, Mark Peine, and Mark Johnson; honorary pallbearers are Bill Freiermuth, Don Schauer, Jim Caneff, Leon Gergen, Raynard Rother, Al Richards, Joe Kuhn, Tom Sheridan, Jim Johnson, John Hankes and Jim Kuhn.
