Helen A. Gergen, age 100 of Hastings died September 18, 2013 at the Regina Nursing Home. Helen was born April 10, 1913 in Hampton, MN to Paul and Emma (Simon) Endres. She married Raymond F. Gergen on September 1, 1937 at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton. She was a member of St. Mary�s Catholic Church in New Trier and was active in St. Therese St. Mary�s Societies. Helen was a great homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She loved gardening, sewing, Bingo and playing cards. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond; daughter Genevieve; son Jim; brothers Ambrose and Julius Endres; sisters Christine Schiller, Lucille Siebenaler, Martha Lorentz and Ethel Niebur; also grandson Michael Angell. Helen is survived by her five daughters Mary Ellen (Fred) Angell of Hampton, Lorraine (Bill) Suchy of Millerville, MN, Joann (Jerry) Bauer of Hastings, Lois (Bob) Kieffer of New Richmond, WI, and Betty (Pete) Carpenter of Hastings; sons Ray (Elaine) Gergen and Leon (Nancy) Gergen, both of Hastings; and daughter-in-law Diane Gergen of Hastings; also 28 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. The funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Stan Mader and Fr. Martin Siebenaler will be held 10 AM Saturday, September 21, 2013 at St. Mary� Catholic Church, New Trier. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Friday at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East Seventh St., Hastings and one hour prior to the Mass at church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Grandchildren pallbearers are Kathy Wanous, Kevin Suchy, Shari Wagner, Jason Gergen, Brenda Olson, Sheila Ostvig, Mark Carpenter and Amy Fick.
