Harold M. Stenson

Harold M. Stenson, age 95, of Denmark Township, died Thursday, May 11, 2017 surrounded by his family. Harold Martin, was born September 13, 1921 in Denmark Township, to Martin and Amelia (Karnick) Stenson. He attended and was a graduate of Hastings High School in 1940. He then attended the University of Minnesota. Harold was a life long resident of Denmark Township. He farmed his family farm and also was co owner of Hastings Malting Co. He also worked for Bahls Implement and Gerlach Service. Harold was active in the community, including at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in the funeral choir, and as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Harold married Bernadine St. Marie at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in St. Paul Park. She died in January of 1964. Harold married Bernardine (Ruhr) Kimmes January 7, 1989 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Miesville. She died in March of 2005. Harold is survived by his children Stephen (Michele) Stenson of Saline MI, Mary Stenson of Rochester, MN, Joni Stenson of San Diego, CA, Kay Stenson (Willie Kimmes) of Midway, UT, Patrick Stenson of Minnetrista, MN; 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Also by step children Jane Kimmes Wardell (John) of Shoreview, George Kimmes (Darla) of Hastings, Carol Kimmes of Minneapolis, Mary Kimmes of Big Lake, MN, Jack Kimmes (Maureen) of Lino Lake, MN, Jerry Kimmes (Dawn) of Hastings and Willie Kimmes (Kay) of Midway, UT.; also by many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. A visitation will be held Monday, May 15, 2017 from 4-7 PM at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 201 7th Street E., Hastings. The Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at the parish cemetery. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
