Harold “Bud” Kummer, age 96, of Hastings, passed away at Regina Hospital on January 24, 2017. He was born on a farm in Miesville to Arthur and Lena Kummer on July 24, 1920. Bud attended country school and completed the Dale Carnegie Sales Training Course through the University of Minnesota. He married the love of his life, Marion Swanson, at St. Boniface Catholic Church on June 2, 1945. He worked highway construction for 10 years and was in car sales and management for over 27 years in Hastings. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion; daughter, Joanne; parents; and sisters, Eleanor Hunter, Shirley Carner, and Arlene Oehlke. Bud is survived by his son, David (Becky) Kummer of Rochester; daughter, Tami (George) Podgorski of Hastings; grandchildren, Hillary (Jeff) Kummers, Hannah Kummer, Abby Kummer, Maddy Kummer; great grandchildren, Nora, Sophie and Cooper Kummers; siblings, Caroyl Reichling of Atlanta, and Gary (Joan) Kummer of Florida; many other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Fr. Thomas O’Brien, will be held on Monday (1/30) at 11:00 A.M. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th St., Hastings. A Visitation will be held on Sunday (1/29) from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings, and 1 hour prior to mass at church on Monday.
