Gregory Alan Drahos

Gregory A. "Greg" Drahos, age 69 of Hastings, died peacefully on Friday evening, November 1, 2019, at United Hospital in St. Paul. Gregory A., the son of Harry and Christine (Ruzicka) Drahos, was born on August 3, 1950, in Minneapolis. Following his graduation from high school, Greg was united in marriage to Patricia Rother on November 18, 1972, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Vermillion. Greg was a longtime baker at Red Owl and Lund's bakeries. After retiring, he and Pat enjoyed traveling. Their most memorable trip was to Hawaii. They spent their time together playing cards or getting together with friends and family. Once someone met Greg, they were friends. He loved to talk with people and he always had a story to tell. Greg was a war history buff and especially knew a lot about World War II. He was a political junkie and enjoyed a political conversation with anyone. He was always willing to help people and continued to volunteer at Augustana Care Center even after his parents had passed away. His nieces and nephews were the center of his life and they absolutely adored him as well. He will be missed by all who knew him. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Christine Drahos. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pat Drahos of Hastings; siblings, Cookie (Rick) Dumas of Arkansas and Cheri (Jim) Dixon of Woodbury; the extended Rother and Foss families; and by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, with Father Michael Tix officiating. An interment will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Vermillion on Saturday morning. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., and to a reception immediately following the service, all at the funeral home on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association or to the donor's choice in memory of Greg. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
