Gerald "Jerry" O'Shaughnessy

Gerald "Jerry" O'Shaughnessy, age 89, of Hastings, passed away March 4, 2021. He was born in Red Wing on August 23, 1931 to John and Helen (Gerlach) O'Shaughnessy and raised on the farm in Welch. He graduated from Red Wing High School in 1949 and St. Thomas College in 1953. In 1956 he moved to California, where he worked for Lockheed Martin as a Computer Specialist. He returned to Minnesota to be with his family in 2019. He liked to bowl, play darts, watch sports and he loved cars. He enjoyed his car trips to Santa Rosa to visit his family. He was a soft spoken, gentle man to everyone he met. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Rita Engeldinger. Jerry is survived by his niece, Amy Gullickson (John Ferrin); great nieces, Taylor and Taryn Gullickson; other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion St.. A gathering will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at later date at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Miesville.
