George Brenton Mead Jr.

George Brenton Mead, Jr., age 82, of Hastings, loving husband and father, died peacefully February 5, 2019 at United Hospital in St. Paul. George was born June 17, 1936, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to George and Genevieve (McMahon) Mead. He married Marilyn Mallery on August 21, 1970, and they had a son, George Brenton Mead III. He joined the Army January 17, 1959, and received a good conduct medal and an honorable discharge. He graduated from the U of M majoring in business administration. He received the Gallatin Award when he retired in 2003 after 36 years of service with the IRS. George will long be remembered for his quick wit, trivia mastery and sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tom and Frank and niece, Theresa. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son, George; sisters in law, Gretchen Studenski and Patricia Mead; many nieces and nephews. George will be dearly missed by his family. Honoring George’s wishes, a private memorial service will be held in the spring. PLEASE NO FLOWERS
