Francis "Bud" Seifert, age 88 of Hastings, died peacefully on Monday, September 30, 2019, in Phoenix, Arizona after recently relocating there. Francis Edward, the son of Joseph and Mary (Nekola) Seifert, was born on May 9, 1931, in Princeton, Minnesota. Following his graduation from Watkins High School in Watkins, MN, Bud enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War. After being Honorably Discharged, he moved to South St. Paul and worked at Armour & Company for twenty-eight years. In 1961, Bud was united in marriage to Dorothy Vukad of Buhl, MN, at the Basilica in Minneapolis and shortly thereafter moved to Hastings. After leaving Armour & Company, Bud worked as a truck driver for SCPF in Hastings until his retirement. Bud's life-long devotion was caring for and providing for his family and loved ones. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and other outdoor activities with family and friends. He and Dorothy enjoyed their retirement doing the same with life-long friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; foster parents, George and Hildegard Kron; sister, Lois Oftedahl; and recently by his wife Dorothy on May 16, 2018. Bud is survived by his children, Gene (Diana) Seifert and Diane (Doug) Peterson; grandchildren, Brooke Seifert, Bethany (Daniel) Del Valle, Kayla and Nathan Peterson; great-grandchildren, Joey and Makenna Malena; siblings, Beverly Meyer, Joe (Jan) Kaley, and Mary (Reuben) Sibell; and by other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2019, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings. Interment will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Cemetery in Hastings. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., and to a reception immediately following the service all at the funeral home on Saturday.
