Fern A. Mjolsness

Fern A. Mjolsness, age 80, of Hastings, died April 21, 2008 at the Augustana Health Care Center. She was born June 12, 1927 to Fred and Edith (Swanson) Mahler in Hastings. Fern was a 1945 graduate of Hastings High School and had been very active in the Alumni Association. She was an active volunteer for many organizations including her church, community education, the Carpenter Nature Center, and served as an election judge for 24 years. Fern had worked as a secretary in the steel industry. She married Bennie C. Mjolsness in Webster, SD on June 30, 1968. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bennie and brother Richard �Dick� Mahler. Fern is survived by nephews Bryan (Fe) Mahler and Brent (Shelly) Mahler; nieces Leesa Biermaier and Missy (James) Banitt; also great-nieces and nephew Kallie, Lexy, and Jack; sister-in-law Anita Mahler; relatives and friends. The Memorial Service, conducted by Rev. Percy J. Damrow will be held 10:30am Saturday, April 26, 2008 at St. John�s Ev. Lutheran Church, 202 West 8th St., Hastings, with a visitation held 1 hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
