Eleanor M. Murphy

Eleanor M. Murphy, age 97 of Afton died March 10, 2013. Eleanor was born October 12, 1915 in Woodbury Township to Benjamin and Laura (Olstad) Bahls. She was a 1933 graduate of Stillwater High School. Eleanor married J. Wallace Murphy on June 10, 1936 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Hastings.Eleanor was a former member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband J. Wallace; son Lawrence Murphy; and brother Donald Bahls. Eleanor is survived by her children Ann (Mike Holland, Jerome (Kathleen), Katherine (Gregory) Gontarek, Robert (Mary Lou), Dennis (Joanne), Mark (Rita), Mary Jo (Jake) Nelson, and daughter-in-law Betty Lou Murphy; also 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; sister Doris Christensen; many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Cole Kracke will be held 11 AM Friday, March 15, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth St., Hastings, with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorials are preferred to donors choice. The family wishes to thank the Afton Care Center for their loving care.
