Edward L. Lewanski

Lewanski, Edward L., age 88, of Hastings, passed away on January 6, 2014 at Regina Assisted Living. Edward was born on February 21, 1925 to Alexander and Josephine Lewanski in Bronx, New York. He was in the Navy during WWII. Edward worked for many years at Armours, then later as a custodian at the Hastings High School. Edward married Annette Turenne on July 5, 1947 in St. Paul, MN.He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years who passed away on March 8, 2013, Annette; parents; sister, Lillian; and brother, Frank Lewanski. Edward is survived by his children, Jeanne (Bill) Loesch; Jerome (Jan) Lewanski; Sherry (Lee) Schmitz; Jim (Joy) Lewanski; Tom (Gail) Lewanski; Michael Lewanski; grandchildren, Jacob, Casey and Catie Loesch; Marya and Greta Lewanski, Corah and Owen Schmitz; Eric and Brandon Lewanski; Anna, Alex and Josh Lewanski; Aiyana, Saura and Summer Lewanski; great-grandchildren, Leo, Eddie, Charlie, William and Calvin Loesch; and Grant Lewanski; sisters, Helen Mykolyn, Hedy Deming; in-laws, Bob (Grace) Turenne, Ted Turenne, Ann Branchaud, Maryann Cegon; Pat O’Halloran, Judy Turenne, Diane Turenne; many nieces, nephews and friends.A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday (1/10) at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th Street in Hastings. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thurs. (1/9) at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring Street in Hastings and 1 hours prior at church on Friday. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Monday (1/13).
