Dorothy M. Wagner

Dorothy M. Wagner, age 79 of Hastings, died suddenly on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at her home. Dorothy, the daughter of Joseph and Lillian (Kennelly) Slater, was born on July 31, 1936 in St. Paul. She attended grade school in Eagan and graduated from Rosemount High School with the class of 1954. On September 22, 1956, Dorothy was united in marriage to Ralph Wagner in St. Paul and they were blessed with four children, Dan, David, Randy and Michelle. Dorothy worked as a receptionist for the Dakota County Attorneys office for many years prior to her retirement. She was one of the founders of both the local Breast Cancer Support and Bereaved Parents groups and was also very active in Stephen Ministries and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Dorothy was named Senior Volunteer of the Year by the Hastings Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Michelle; and by her siblings, Eve Hannes, James Slater, Helen Bishop, Ray Slater, Joe Slater, Jerry Slater, Theresa Slater and William Slater. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ralph; her sons, Dan (Cathy) Wagner, David (Charlie) Wagner and Randy Wagner; her grandchildren, Bryan, Kelly, Trevor, Coco and Ava; her great grandson, Owen; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth St., Hastings, with Father T.J. McKenzie officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday AT CHURCH and will continue for one hour prior to Mass on Saturday, also at church. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services in Hastings.
