Dorothy M. Schabert

Dorothy M. Schabert, age 94 of Cannon Falls, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Augustana Care in Hastings. Dorothy Marie was born April 4, 1923 in Hampton to Joseph and Helen (Schaack) Beissel. She married Edward J. Schabert on November 7, 1946 at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Dorothy was an excellent cook who provided many years of catering for funerals, weddings and anniversaries, and she greatly enjoyed talking with the many people with whom she came in contact. She was a hardworking farm wife who raised her family all while helping milk the cows and canning many foods. Dorothy enjoyed card playing, polka dancing, gardening and especially enjoyed attending her grandchildrens events. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward in 1971; sons, Kevin and Eugene; grandson, Jason and sister, Bernice Beissel. Dorothy is survived by her children, Raymond (Sue) Schabert of Cannon Falls, Rita (George) Feidt of Cannon Falls and Diane (Ted) Braafladt of Inver Grove Heights; six grandchildren, Eugene and Christopher Schabert, Michelle (Feidt) Webber, Theodore Braafladt, Lisa Braafladt McFate and Jesse Braafladt; 11 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Becky Schabert Ruddle; siblings, Florence (Jerry) Kleis of Hastings, Edwin Beissel of Hastings and Shirley Breyer of Shakopee. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2017, at St. Marys Catholic Church in New Trier, with Father Cole Kracke officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
