Dorothy M. Roberts

Dorothy M. Roberts, age 89 of Wanamingo and formerly of Hastings, died Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Mayo Health Systems St. Marys Campus in Rochester.Dorothy Marie, the daughter of Clarence and Martha (Behnke) Stachele, was born on March 23, 1926 in Red Wing. Following her education in Red Wing, Dorothy married Harold Roberts on September 2, 1947 and was blessed with four children, Steven, Vickie, Cheryl and John. She was a longtime telephone operator for Pioneer Phone Company in Hastings, as well as in Preston. Dorothy later became a homemaker where she loved hosting many family gatherings, cooking, her deck and back yard and spending time with her grandchildren. She also did babysitting for many years.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; and by her sister, Donna Miller.Dorothy is survived by her children, Pastor Steven (Rebecca) Roberts of Wanamingo, Vickie (Ronald) Rowan of Hastings, Cheryl Roberts of Wanamingo and John Roberts of Hastings; her grandchildren, Amber (Zac) Tessier, Carissa Rowan, Josh (Shellsea) Roberts, Justan Roberts, Caleb Roberts, Lauryn Roberts and Chase Roberts; her great grandchildren, Adrianna Tessier, Addysen Tessier, Treysen Tessier, Eli Rowan, Siah Roberts and Fritz Roberts; her sisters, Betty Janisch and LaVonne Enevold; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 East Seventh St., Hastings with interment following at Lakeside Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
