Dorothy M. "Dubie" Swanson

Dorothy "Dubie" Swanson, age 94 of Hastings, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Regina Medical Center in Hastings. Dorothy M., the daughter of Stephen and Margaret (Huberty) Knoll, was born February 28, 1926, in Hastings. Of their six children, she was the last surviving one. Dubie had many fun stories about growing up in "cowtown." She loved talking to people which was an asset in her retail jobs. Wherever she went, she said, "You meet the nicest people." She was preceded in death by her husband, Lu Swanson; son in law, Don Saari; and special friend, Matt Towey. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Janet Saari and son, Randy (Susan) Swanson; grandchildren, Kindra, Tim Saari, Patty Braunger and Beth Porter; great grandchildren, Jazmin Enyart, Breanna Rodriguos, Devrah, Alexis Braunger, Kai, Jyelle, and Maverick Porter. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father Matt Shireman officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Family and friends are cordially invited to a reception following the interment at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel in Hastings. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hastings Family Service or Union Gospel Mission in memory of Dubie. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
