Dorothy Helen Schaar

Dorothy Helen Schaar, age 99 of Hastings died Monday, June 10, 2013 at her home. Dorothy was born December 31, 1913 in St. Paul to Herman and Helen (R�m) Keely. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1931 and married Carl Schaar on October 5, 1935 at St. John�s Lutheran Church in Hastings. Dorothy loved quilting, crocheting, baking, knitting, playing piano and flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Carl; sister Ethel Keely-Schaar; brothers Roy and Charles Keely. Dorothy is survived by children Karen (Roy) Bremer of Hastings, Lew Schaar of St. Paul, Lois Macey (William Scott) of Vancouver, WA, Ruth (John) Kletchka of Shoreline, WA; also 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. The Memorial Service, officiated by Rev. Jon Zimpelmann will be held 11 AM Friday, June 21, 2013 at St. John�s Ev. Lutheran Church, 202 West Eighth Street, Hastings. A memorial gathering will be held at the church after 9:30 AM. Interment will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are John Michael Bremer, Garrett Schaar, Terry Hall, Tom Mahler, Tom Lehmann, Dan Lehmann.
