Dorothy A. Lang

Dorothy Ann (Nobis) Lang, age 91, died peacefully on December 27, 2021. She was born on October 21, 1930 in Enid, Oklahoma to Henry and Ella (Schultz) Nobis. Her mother died shortly after her birth and she was raised by her paternal grandparents, Anna and Bill Nobis, on a farm by Fairmont, OK. Dorothy attended the Lutheran grade school in Fairmont, graduating from Garber High School. She met Edward Lang and they were married in 1949. Ed and Dorothy were farmers, there at Fairmont and a few years later moving to a farm by Glencoe, OK. In 1958, they moved to Muskogee, OK where Ed worked for Callery Chemical Co., finally moving to Hastings, MN in 1963. Ed passed away in 2016 with Dorothy remaining in Hastings. All her life, Dorothy was the real persona of a homemaker. She worked hard on the farms while raising three daughters, keeping house for her family and caring for Ed in later years. She enjoyed traveling around with Ed, to Germany meeting relatives from both sides of her family and traveling around the US. She was active for years at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, the Hastings Homemaker's Group, and sewing club (she had learned to sew on a treadle sewing machine, making many dresses for her girls). Her hobbies also included planning special meals, decorating her home, gardening, hunting with Ed out West and enjoying activities with her daughters, relatives and friends. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Ed; daughter, LaDene Reed; parents; and many relatives in OK. She is survived by her daughters, LaDonna Joseph and Cheryl Lang (Tom Steinmueller); son in law, Bill Reed; grandchildren, Laura (Noah) Dingler, Dr. Bryan (Jessica) Reed and Crystal Joseph; great grandsons, Jackson and Caleb Reed, Cameron and Kai Dingler; a niece; 3 nephews; a sister in law; first cousin; and many other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Our Saviour's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 W. 9th St. in Hastings. A visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the service at church. A future interment will be scheduled at the Collett Cemetery in Fairmont, OK. Memorials preferred to the Collett Cemetery in Fairmont, OK or donor's choice.
