Donna J. Zeien

Donna J. Zeien, age 86 of Hastings, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday evening, February 17, 2018, at Regina Senior Living in Hastings. Donna Jean, the daughter of Daniel and Myrtle (Brott) Walters, was born on May 8, 1931, in New Hampton, Iowa. Following her graduation as Salutatorian from New Hampton High School with the class of 1949, Donna was united in marriage to Harold G. Zeien on February 14, 1950, in New Hampton. In 1953, they moved to Hastings and raised their family. Donna was a longtime employee at Regina Hospital for almost forty years. She continued to be actively involved at Regina by volunteering in various capacities, as well as being a member of Regina Auxiliary. Donna enjoyed all sorts of crafts, playing poker, sewing, and collecting pottery, bells, and paperweights. She had a heart of gold and would do anything to help her family and friends. Most of all, Donna loved spending time with her family, especially over the holidays. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; children, John and Deborah Zeien; her son-in-law, Steven Marquette; and by her siblings, Arthur, Ruth, Elouise, Betty, and Robert. Donna is survived by her loving children, Barbara Ann Zeien (John Togneri), Patricia (Leon) Johnson, Linda (Neil) Stokke, Jane (Randy) Scott, Kathy (Paul) Haugo, Christine Zeien (significant other, Steven Kurtz), Ron (Kathleen) Zeien, and Richard (Cindy) Zeien; her ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father Thomas OBrien officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Thursday morning at church. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia, Smidt Starkson Funeral Home Crematory of Hastings.
