Donald H. Kelly

Donald Kelly, age 89, of Hastings, passed away at Regina Assisted Living on August 19, 2015. He was born in Underwood, MN to Henry and Pearl Kelley on August 4, 1926. He grew up on a farm in the Vesta, MN area. He left the farm and moved to Minneapolis where he learned the brick layers trade. He lied about his age to enlist in the Army, serving a year and a half in Europe during WWII. He returned to Minneapolis and married Barbara Adams on December 27, 1945 and raised two daughters in Bloomington. He married Pauline Van Buren on December 29, 1972. They lived in Walker and Hastings, MN, and after retiring returned to Walker. Don’s entire career was as a tuck pointer/brick layer. He and Pauline spent many years snow birding in Mission Texas. Don is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jessica; brother, Jack; and 2nd wife, Pauline. He is survived by his children, Shirley (Mike) Dalaska; Nancy (David) Lindmeyer; grandchildren, Lovetta Roufs (finance, Brian Lewis); Sally (Tim) Sands; Andrew (Katie) Burg; Jessica (Chris) Mishkee; Shannon (Molly) Lindmeyer; Kelly Lindmeyer; 11 great grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 11 step great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service, officiated by Gordon Gathright, will be held at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings, on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 11:00 a.m. A gathering will take place one hour prior to the service.
