Donald G. Holmquist

Donald Gene Holmquist, age 51, of Cannon Falls, formerly of Arkansas and Red Wing, passed away on July 12, 2009 form cancer. He was born March 13, 1958 in Walnut Ridge, AR to Donald and Opal Holmquist. Don loved his family very much, enjoyed NASCAR races and was an avid Mark Martin fan. Don's quick wit brought a smile to all who knew him. He greatly enjoyed helping others. Don served in the National Guard and also in Korea while on active duty in the Army. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela; mother, Opal Moore; father, Donald E. Holmquist; step father, John Devitt and good friend, Dave Smith. He is survived by his children, Nicole and Troy of MN; Donald 'Frankie' (Unique) Holmquist of CA; and Heather Holmquist of AR; sisters, Diane Henson of AR; Debra (Collin) Owens of MN and brother, Thomas (Laura) Holmquist of MN; grandchildren, Matthew and Aaron Thompson; aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces and nephews.Family and Friends are invited to join together, Saturday (7/18), at 1:00 pm, at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings for a Graveside Service, officiated by Gordon Gathright. A luncheon in Don's honor will follow.
