Donald F. Reinardy

Donald "Don" Francis Reinardy, age 72 of Hastings, died October 21, 2016, at his self built home surrounded by family and his dog. Don was born August 17, 1944 in Hastings, to Francis "Frank" and Irene (King) Reinardy. He was educated at St. Boniface School and Hastings High School. Following his graduation in 1963, he served in the Infantry Division of the Army National Guard. Don married his loving wife of 50 years, Simone Christensen on June 11, 1966 at St. Boniface Church. They made their home in Hastings and have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. He was self employed with Don Reinardy Construction from 1968-2007. Don constructed hundreds of new residences, additions and commercial properties. Some of his fine craftsmanship is featured in Country Living, Better Homes and Gardens, and Minnesota Monthly magazines. Don enjoyed his work, fishing, crossword puzzles and beer drinking. His family and friends will always remember him for his quick wit, strength and intelligence. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Irene Reinardy; a stillborn sister Mary and a young sister Kathleen Reinardy. He is survived by his wife Simone; children Donald Reinardy of Hastings, Ronald Reinardy and wife Stephanie of Owatonna, Robert Reinardy of Hastings, Renae Reinardy Spiry and husband Chad of Fargo, ND; grandchildren Jacob, Michael and Ronald James "RJ" Reinardy, Tim Teeter and Fiona Spiry; his brothers Francis Reinardy (Dawn), James Reinardy (Sue Moeller) and sister Sharon Cook; also by nieces, nephews, wonderful friends, and loyal Pug Lola. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 28, 2016 in Mother Seton Hall of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th Street W., Hastings. There will be a luncheon and time of sharing immediately following that service. Please enter at the West Entrance.
