Denis Tappella

Denis J. Tappella1/10/1941 - 10/28/09Passed away on his 31st wedding anniversary, Oct. 28, 2009, due to complications from heart surgery. Survived by his mother, Louise, his loving, devoted and adoring wife, Rose, daughters Jodie (Tony) Capecchi, Jackie and grandsons, Michael and Dominic. He lived for his family, always the provider and willing to do anything for them. Born and raised in St. Louis in the famed Italian neighborhood known as 'The Hill,' he grew up at the Cardinals' stadium and remained an avid fan, sharing his love and knowledge of the game with his grandsons. As a career military man, he traveled the world with the Army before retiring as Lt. Colonel in 1992. He then worked for the U.S. Treasury Department pursuing a career he loved until the day he died. Hobbies included exercising at the YMCA, traveling the country in pursuit of visiting every major league ballpark, serving the VFW, volunteering with St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish and School, and giving generously and anonymously to causes he believed in. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School Tuition Assistance, Hastings.
