David Thomas Trejo

David Thomas Trejo, age 62 of Hastings. David was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on April 26, 1957. He was the son of Gloria (Verduzco) and Andrew "Chico" Trejo. In 1996, he met the absolute love of his life, Paula Bishop. They were married five and a half years later on June 29, 2002. David worked at Jorgensen Construction as a Superintendent for most of his career. He and Paula had two dogs together, Pablo and Lucas. He was an avid volunteer and Chairman for the Minnesota Amber Alert Fundraiser. David was always willing to help other people whenever he could. David enjoyed fishing with his kids and grandkids. Also riding his motorcycle and snowmobile, listening to Christian music, shooting pool and breakfast with his brothers. David and Paula enjoyed many trips on the motorcycle with family and friends to Sturgis, South Dakota and up along Minnesota's North Shore of Lake Superior. His snowmobile trips took him out with family and friends to the Rocky Mountains. David was very social and was always up for entertaining people at the house. His sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him as he enjoyed teasing his family and friends. More than anything his passion in life was his family. After a long journey to recovery, Paula was able to bring David to their home in Hastings where she lovingly cared for him each day. David passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, at his home in Hastings, on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 with his loving wife by his side. His faith was very strong. He knew without a doubt that he was going to heaven. He has been reunited in heaven with his father, Andrew "Chico" Trejo; his grandson, Josè Trejo; and his two dog buddies, Ruby and Harley. He will be dearly missed by his mother, Gloria Trejo of North Dakota; his wife of 17 years, Paula Trejo (Bishop) of Hastings; his children, Tiffany Trejo of Hastings, Brandon Trejo (Tiffany Grove) of Hastings, and Angie (Adrian "Hoss") Covey of Cushing, WI; his five grandchildren, Angelina Trejo, Antonio Trejo, Josè Trejo, Grace Covey, and Chase Covey; his siblings, Yolanda ( Art ) Elizondo of California, Ronnie (Debbie) Trejo of Minnesota, Victor ( Lori ) Trejo of Texas, Steve (Liz ) Trejo of Texas, Lisa (Kim) Moser of South Dakota, and Sharon Trejo of Texas; and many other family and friends. A memorial service for David will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 400 W. 9th Street in Hastings. The family invites friends to join them for a visitation from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel in Hastings.
