David M. Strusinski

David M. Strusinski, age 80 of Hugo, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Health System ~ Rochester. David Michael, the son of John and Lois (Jackson) Strusinski, was born on October 20, 1938, in St. Paul. Leaving Harding High School early, David enlisted through the Kiddie Cruise with the United States Navy and later received an Honorable Discharge. David was a general contractor where he enjoyed building many homes throughout the years. Later he became a housing inspector. He loved fishing, hunting, and being outdoors at the family hunting shack, "The Polish Palace", in Ely. He also enjoyed bowling with friends and family for many years as well. David married the love of his life, Barbara (Schaffhausen) Preston and they enjoyed twenty years of marriage. Together, they were actively involved in breeding and showing Afghan Hounds, which was a true passion of Barb's. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas Vaughn Strusinski, and his wife Barbara Strusinski. David is survived by his children, Triny (Robert) Dawson, Randy Strusinski, Tracy Strusinski-Matuska, Matt (Stephanie) Hanlon, Warren (Laurel) Hanlon, Scott Hanlon, David Preston, and John (Heather) Preston; thirteen grandchildren, Paul, Scott, Jessie (Hannah), Erin, Tyler, Tori, Morgan, Daniel, Dylan, Macey, Nicholas, Kendyl, and Courtney; five great grandchildren, LeAndre, Samirah, Sahara, Skylah, and Theodore; siblings, John (Barbara) Strusinski, Rob Strusinski, and Steve (Dianna) Strusinski; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2019, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel in Hastings, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. and a memorial service at 11 a.m. Immediately following the service, a light luncheon reception will also be held. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
