David L. Legler, age 72 of Hastings died Monday, January 12, 2015 at Regions Hospital. David LeRoy was born March 17, 1942 in St. Paul to LeRoy and Mary (Holland) Legler. He was a 1961 graduate of Hastings High School and served 6 years in the National Guard. Dave played bass guitar and sang with bands for 35 years. From 1962-1997, Dave was a vocational counselor at the Hastings State Hospital and grounds and transportation supervisorat the MN Veterans Home of Hastings. He also had served on the Hastings City Council from 1978-1982. He attendedCalvary Christian Church, loved his family, especially grandchildren and always loved a good joke. Dave was an avid outdoorsman with special interest in flowers, trees and lumber milling. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Dwain and John; sisters Martha Erickson and Vadys Hoeper. Dave is survived by his sons Eric Legler of Hastings and Matt Legler of Prior Lake; special friend Mary Anderson; grandchildren David, Aidan, Donovan and Alyvia; step-grandchildren Hali, Alyssa and Brody; brother Kevin (Maureen) Legler; also extended family and friends. The Memorial Service, officiated by Rev. Randy Berg will be held 2:30 PM Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Calvary Christian Church, 907 Fifteenth St. West in Hastings. Visitation will be held at the church from 1 PM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Arbor Day Foundation.
