Daniel J. Caneff

Daniel J. Caneff, of Hastings died September 17, 2009 at the age of 71. He was born January 24, 1938 in St. Paul. He grew up in Hastings and attended Hastings High School. Dan was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Northwest Airlines and drove for the Hastings Family Service, taking clients for their doctor appointments and errands. He loved spending time with family and friends. He was quite the jokester and loved to tease. Dan had a great love of reading and almost always had a book at hand. He also loved fishing and the outdoors. Dan was preceded in death by parents John Caneff and Grace Bauer, and sister Betty Fox. He is survived by children Dawn Lauer (fianc� Dennis Ponick) of Chippewa Falls, WI, John (Saira) Caneff of Bloomer, WI, Daniel Jr. (Bobbi) Caneff of Chippewa Falls, WI, Steve Caneff of Bloomer, WI; step-children Martin (Julie) and Michelle Schlecht; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson; siblings Edward (Beverly) Caneff of Isle, MN, Janice (Richard) Hicks of Holdenville, OK, Larry (Elizabeth) Caneff of Morgan, MN, Tim (Beatrice) Caneff of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Lin Bauer Youle (Ron Wettles), and Dennis (Linda) Bauer of Hastings; also many nieces and nephews.The Memorial Service will be held 10:30am on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fiftheenth Street in Hastings, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.Memorials Are Preferred.
